Elämäni musiikki/Music of my life: Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode. Heidät olen nähnyt livenä kaksi kertaa, ja se ei riitä. Käsien heilutus Never Let Me Down Againin tahtiin on jotain voittamatonta, vaikka kädet puutuvat tunnottomiksi.

Myös Depeche Mode, kuten Duran Duran, on liittynyt elämääni isona osana sekä lapsena, teininä että aikuisena. Lapsuudesta muistan parhaiten ja elävimmin Enjoy the Silencen musiikkivideo. Samaistuin jotenkin Dave Gahanin 'esittämään' kuningashahmoon, joka yksinään raahaa penkkiä jonnekkin kukkulan päälle. Olin kovin koulukiusattu ala-asteella, joten tämä erilainen ja 'kuulumaton' hahmo sai minut samaistumaan siihen erilaisuuteen ja välittyvään yksinäisyyteen.

Teininä (ja aikuisena) myös Depeche Mode liittyi voimakkaasti epätoivoisiin ihastuksiin ja masennuksen tuntemuksiin. 90-luvun alussa ilmestynyt "Songs of Faith and Devotion"-levy puhui suoraan sielulleni. Levy oli tarpeeksi melankolinen, mollisointuinen ja etenkin Walking in My Shoes toi lohtua teinimasennukseeni. Nykyään kyseinen levy toimii yhtenä soundtrackinä päässäni kun ajattelen zombie-kirjaa, jonka aion muka joskus kirjoittaa. Hah hah.

Aikuisena on siis Depeche Modesta sekä soundtrack Zombie Apocalypseen että loppuillan fiilistelyyn, koska mikään ei oikeastaan ole parempaa kuin fiilistellä Depeche Modea keskellä yötä. Niin moni kappale herättää niin suuria tunteita, että sydän meinaa pakahtua. Tätä kirjoittaessani kuvittelen kesäisen auringonnousun, jonka otan vastaan Depeche Modea kuunnellessa. Sitä aikaa jälleen odotellessa.

Depeche Mode. I've have seen them live twice, it's not enough. The feeling of waving your arms until they're numb to Never Let Me Down Again is unbeatable.

Depeche Mode, as Duran Duran, has played a big factor in my life during my childhood, teens and an adult. From my childhood the one song/music video that tops everything is Enjoy the Silence. I identified with Dave Gahans lonely chair-dragging king, who seemed different and a loner. I was bullied all through elementary school (pretty much through all school), so this different character and the loneliness that it displays was very identifiable for me.

As a teen (and an adult) Depeche Mode as well was connected to unrequited love and feelings of depression. The album Songs of Faith and Devotion that came out in the early 90's spoke directly to my souls. The album is melancholic enough, in the manor key and especially Walking in My Shoes brought solace to my teen depression. Nowadays the album is a soundtrack to the imaginary zombie-book I intend to write. Ha ha! :D

As an adult Depeche Mode besides being my Zombie-soundtrack as well as "feeling the music" in the late hours of the night, pretty much nothing is as good as listening to Depeche Mode on high volume late at night/early in the morning. So many of their songs evokes strong feelings, so that it feels like my heart is bursting. While I'm writing this, I'm imaging a summer sunrise and welcoming it to Depeche Mode. Here I am,  waiting....

March Music Madness!

Rakastan musiikkia ja se on ollut iso osa elämääni lapsuudesta asti. Helmikuussa olin katsomassa Depeche Modea Hartwall Areenalla ja siitä inspiroituneena ajattelin, että maaliskuussa blogini teema on musiikki! Mitä se siis käytännössä tarkoitttaa?
Suunnitteilla on seuraavaa (lopullinen tulos riippuu toki myös vapaa-ajasta).

– Elämäni musiikki, eli tärkeimmät bändini/artistini
– Musiikin inspiroimat meikkilookit
– Teemaplaylistit joita käytän (esim. ulkoiluun, kiukutteluun jne..)

Teema ei siis dominoi koko kuukautta vaan, toteutan sen muiden postausten ohella!

I love music and its been a big part of my life ever since I was a kid. I went to see Depeche Mode in February and it inspired me to have a theme for March, music. What does that mean in general?
This is what I have planned (what will actually end up on the blog depends on my free time)

– The music of my life, the most important bands/artists in my life.
– Make up looks inspired by music
– Theme playlists I use (for walks and tantrums for example)

The theme won't be dominating the whole month, it'll accompany other posts! :)

Tänään arvonnan kohteena on Sigma mini power haul. Se sisältää 3 sivellintä, sivellinpuhdistusalusta ja puhdistusaine. Sigma on ehdottomasti oma suosikkini siveltimistä. Kun tajusin, että applikaattorit eivät ole mistään kotoisin, tilasin eBaysta halpoja siveltimiä, joilla harjoittelin, kunnes sittemmin olen kartuttanut "laadukkaampaa" (aka kalliimpaa) kokoelmaani aika lailla. Siveltimillä ja niiden laadulla on väliä. 

Todays giveaway is a Sigma mini power haul. It includes 3 make up brushes, a cleaning mat and cleaning shampoo. Sigma is absolutely my favourite brand of brushes. When I realised applicators fo f*** all, I order a bunch of cheap brushes from eBay and practiced with those and after that I've collected a quite the load of quality (aka more expensive) brushes. And yes, it matters.

Sephora Stockholm -haul

Stockholm and Sephora, the perfect combination! Tukholma & Sephora = täydellinen kombo!

So, about a month ago, I went to Stockholm for a day. I spent most of my money at Sephora, since we don't have it in Finland. I'm hooked on many Sephora's products and they also sell so many brands that aren't available here. I splurged on masks and face wipes. And I swear by Sephora's body wash and make up remover! I've still yet to try most of the masks(I tend to treasure them and save them forever 😂), but when I do, I will do a few reviews.

Noin kuukausi sitten, vietin päivän Tukholmassa. Suurimman osan rahoistani tuhlasin Sephorassa, koska meillä ei ole sitä Suomessa :C . Rakastan monia Sephoran omia tuotteita ja Ruotsissa on myös myynnissä useita brändejä, joita ei Suomesta saa tai joita on vaikea edes tilata tänne! Ostin jättimäärän maskeja ja naamanpuhdistuspyhhkeitä. Ehdottomia lempituotteitani ovat myös Sephoran body wash sekä meikinpoistoaine. Moni maskeista on vielä testaamatta, koska minulla on tapana pitää niitä aarteitani ja pelkään, että ne loppuvat ennen kuin saan lisää! Kunhan saan maskeja testattua, teen niistä jonkinlaista arviointipostausta. 

I bought just a few hair masks, that I still (surprise surprise) haven't tried and tested. But they seem cool! Maybe next week :D .

Ostin vain muutaman hiusnaamion, en ole yllättäen vieläkään kokeillut näitä, mutta ne vaikuttavat jännittäviltä! Ehkä ensi viikolla :D .

A lot of brands had huge sales which I took advantage of! I got the Kat von D Saint and Sinner -palette which I've wanted for ages!!! I also got "Boss Lady" by Too Faced. And finally a small eye shadow -palette and lipsticks by my favourite handbag designer - Marc Jacobs 💝!!!
I will do separate posts about Kat von D and Marc Jacobs, I'm waiting for the postman (my favourite guy in the world!) to bring me a couple of more Kat von D items!

Monella brändillä oli kunnon alet käynnissä, ja otin niistä kaiken hyödyn irti. Mukaan tarttui Kat von D: Saint and Sinner -paletti, jota olen himoinnut jo kauan. Ostin myös Too Facedin "Boss Lady"-paletin sekä lempisuunnittelijani, Mac Jacobsin, luomiväripaletin ja huulipunasetin. Teen myöhemmin postauksen sekä Kat von D:sta että Marc Jacobsista. Odotan, että postimies (lempi-ihmiseni maailmassa) toisi minulle vielä muutaman Kat von D:n tuotteen. 

Tne saleslady was wonderful, she got me all the free samples and birthday gifts when I mentioned that I had it coming up. I think I could've spent a lot more money there, but thankfully I had the sense not to return there after my first shopping spree! Instead I sat at coffee houses drinking a load of White Chocolate Latte's.

Myyjätär oli aivan ihana, hän antoi minulle runsaasti ilmaisia näytteitä ja syntymäpäivälahjoja, kun sanoin täyttäväni vuosia. Olisin voinut tuhlata koko omaisuuteni Sephorassa, mutta onneksi oli järkeä sen verran päässä, etten mennyt kauppaan toistamiseen. Sen sijaan istuin Espresso Housessa lipittämässä Valkosuklaa-latteja! :D
