Catrice 14h ripsiväri / mascara

Testing testing!

Kun olen udellut, mistä ihmiset haluaisivat lukea blogista, edullinen kosmetiikka on tullut mainittua. Olen muutamia tuotteita ostanut ja aion niitä vertailla. Ensimmäiseksi testikohteeksi kuitenkin valikoitui Catricen ripsiväri, jonka lupailtiin kestävän jopa 14 tuntia. Hinta oli Citymarketista todella edullinen, n. €5. 

I’ve asked a few times, what people would like to read about on my blog, affordable make up has come up a few times. I’ve already bought some cheap stuff which I plan to compare to higher end products. But as the first testing product I chose a mascara by Catrice (presumably a German company). It was ‘promised’ to last up to 14 hours and the price was only about €5. 

Testasin tuotetta yhdessä iltavuorossa ja otin itsestäni muutamia kuvia testin lomassa, jotta pysyvyyttä voisi vertailla. Päivä ei ollut mitenkään erityisen raskas, joten itse sanoisin, että oli ”normipäivä”. Ripsiväri ehti olla silmissä n. 11 tuntia ja tässä tulos:

I tested the product during an evening shift and took a few photos of my face on the way, so I could compare the durability. It wasn’t too heavy a day, a normal day I’d say. I had the mascara was on about 11 hours and here are the results:

Täytyy todeta, että hinta-laatusuhde on kohdillaan. Itse kuitenkin käytin ripsivärin alla sekö Urban Decayn Subversion-primeria sekö Urban Decayn Mascara Resurrectionia, jotka todennäköisesti lisäsivät ripsivärin pysyvyyttä. Todennäköisesti käytän tätä ripsiväriä vastaisuudessakin pelkästään töissä, mutta en ainakaan silloin kun ”täytyy näyttää hyvältä”, omia kriteereitäni tämä ei kuitenkaan täyttänyt. Mutta olenkin hyvin vaativa kaikkien meikkien suhteen. 

I must say that the price and quality were a match! However I did use Urbam Decays Subversion -primer and Mascsra resurrection under the mascara, I would think that they made the mascara more durable. I’ll probably continue to use this only at work, but at least when I don’t “have to look good”, this didn’t fulfill the requirements I look for in a mascara. But, I am very demanding when it comes to make up anyway...

Cohorted, beauty box –maaliskuu/March

Ollut muutama päivä taukoa kirjoittamisessa, kun on ollut niin paljon muuta puuhaa. Tuli vaihteeksi käytyä Ikeassa, kun tuntuu ettei tämä ”oma alue” ole ikinä valmis. Joten taas yksi hylly lisää, lamppu lisää, vihdoin 7 vuoden jälkeen lampunvarjostin makuuhuoneen kattolamppuun. Olen ehkä alistunut siihen, että joudun oikeasti asumaan täällä... no sen sellaista!

There’s been a few days break with writing, since there’s been this and that going on. I went to ikea for a change, since it feels that “my area” is never finished. So, one more shelf, one more lamp and finally a lamp shade to the ceiling lamp of the bedroom, after 7 years. I guess I’m finally giving in to the fact I have to live here... so that’s been going on. 

Tällä viikolla saapui myös viimeinen beauty boxeista, eli Cohortedin boxi. Tiedossa oli, että laatikko tulisi myöhästymään ja jokin aika sitten tuli tieto, että siitä tulisi puuttumaan MACin False Lashes maskara ☹️. Tämä harmitti todella paljon, sillä se kuuluu käyttämiini perusmeikkeihin. No, sanoivat että ensi kuun paketissa on mukana ekstratuote kompensoimassa puutetta. 

No mutta, mitä laatikossa sitten oli? Oli tuttua ja uutta nimeä, mutta kumpikin merkkejä, joita en ikinä ole kokeillut. 

This week also marked the arrival of the last of the months beauty boxes, meaning the Cohorted box. It was known that the box would be late and a while ago they informed that the MAC false lashes mascara that was supposed to be in the box, wouldn’t be. I was quite saddened by it, because it’s one of my basic mascaras I use ☹️. But at least there’s supposed to be a compensating product next month. 

Well what did the box contain? There was a new name and an old name, both brands I’ve never tried. 

Uusi merkki oli ”Beauty Edit Mayfair”, tuotteita oli peräti kolme kappaletta ja kaikki keskittyneet kulmiin, oli kulma highlighter-kynä, siihen sopiva sivellin. Lisäksi tässäkin boksissa oli ”brow setter”, joten totta kai mietitytti onko tehty vakoilua kilpailijan leiriin 😉. 

The new brand was Beauty Edit Mayfair, there were a total of 3 products by the brand and all were concentrated on the brows. There was a highlighting marker and a brush to go with it. And there was also a brow setter, of course that made me think how much spying goes between competitors 😉. 

Uusi tuote oli Cover FX:n cream contour kit sävyssä medium. Koska olen väritykseltöni kalpea kuin kalkkilaivan kapteeni, niin jopa medium on liian tumma, mutta ehkä sitä voi enemmän köyttä jos kesällä iho päivettyy. Tämä toki on hoitajana yleensä ihan sula mahdottomuus. Tykkään päivettyneestä ihosta ja sellainen minulla on oikeastaan ollut edellisen kerran vuonna 2009.... 😭😭😭 No ehkä tämä tuleva kesä antaa mahdollisuuden olla auringossa, tosin tämän jääkauden kai pitäisi mennä ohi ensin.... ja aika hiljaiselta vaikuttaa sen suhteen 😡. 

The new product by the old name, cream contour kit by Cover FX in the shade medium. It’s a bit too dark for me, since I honestly am pale as a ghost, but maybe if I get a little tan over summer, it’ll be perfect. As a nurse this hardly is possible, especially since I don’t have a lot of vacation. I like being a little tanned, and the last time I was properly tanned was way back in 2009... 😭😭😭. Well hopefully I’ll get more chances this summer to be outdoors, but that would mean this ice age should be over... and here we are waiting... quits the freezing winter is never ending 😡. 

Ihan mielenkiintoisia tuotteita kuitenkin! On vaikea valita voittajaa tämän ja LookIncrediblen välillä. Rikkinäinen bronzer ei auta Lookincediblen asiaa eikä puuttuva tuote tämän boksin asiaa. Olen vaativa asiakas! 😄. Toisaalta harvoin jaksan valittaa ja olettaa, että saisin ehjän tuotteen tilalle. Oh well. 

Anyway, the boxes seem fairly interesting. It’s hard to pick the winner between Cohorted and LookIncredible. The broken bronzer doesn’t help LookIncredible and the missing product doesn’t help Cohorted. I’m a demanding customer 😄. On the other hand I’m a lazy whiner and I just assume there’s no way they’ll replace a broken product. Oh well!

Tuesday, family night.

Tiistaina isäni kutsui jälkikasvunsa syömään ja vähän niin kuin juhlistamaan veljen syntymäpäivää. Päivät jolloin on menoa, mutta ei töitä, ovat ihan parhaita, koska voi oikeasti pukeutua, laittaa meikkiä ja hiuksetkin eri tavalla. Korkkasin myös yhden uusista hajuvesistäni Versacen Bright Crystalin.

On Tuesday my dad invited us kids for dinner and to sort of celebrate my brothers birthday. The days when you go somewhere, but don't have to work are the best, you can dress up, out on a load make up and do your hair. I also opened on of my new perfumes, Versaces Bright Crystal. 

Päivällinen koostui espanjalaistyyppisestä tapaksesta alkuruokana ja perus suomalaisesta lohesta pääruoaksi. Jälkkäriksi oli lettuja, nam! Isäni kokkaa todella hyvin. 

For dinner we had a Spanish type of tapas as starter and basic Finnish salmon for the main course and pancakes for dessert. My dad cooks really well. 

Ja tältä näytti naamani! Tällä kertaa testasin Kat von D:n meikkivoidetta, ja olin siihen todella tyytyväinen! Huulipuna on Colourpopin Ultra Satin Lip, sävyssä Ambush, voitin sen itse Esteettistä Mielihyvää-blogin jouluarvonnassa. 

And this was my face! This time I tried out Kat von D's foundation and was very satisfied!!! The lipstick is by Colourpop,  ultra satin lip in shade Ambush, which I won from another blogs Christmas calendar. 

Vaatetuksenani oli joskus viime vuonna tilattu, mutta vasta nyt korkattu H&M:n punainen pitsimekko.

I was wearing I dress I bought way back when from H&M, but I just now used for the first time.

Kaikki sanat eivät välttämättä ole kauniita.

Joo..... tänään kotiini saapunut Bettebox, tarjosi mukavan muistutuksen siitä, miksi lopetin Livboxin tilaamisen. Jos (ja kun) haluan kuukausittaisen yllätysboksin, mieluummin maksan siitä enemmän ja panostan laatuun. Oma, henkilökohtainen, mielipiteeni on, että Bettebox on aika kaukana laadukkaasta. Tässäpä mitä boksi tarjoili minulle:

Lähes kuihtunut tulppaani sopii kuvaan paremmin kuin hyvin.

Että joopa joo... Sellaista. Lumenelle annan mahdollisuuden, vaikka jotenkin olen aina ja ikuisesti epäileväinen sen toimivuuteen. Oliivivoide on kiinnostava vain koska oliivi tulee Kreikasta :D Ja tuo ruskea möykky, joka on olevinaan mascara lähteköön eniten tarjoavalle. 

Nämä kaikki voisin ostaa lähikaupastani. Baby oil, vaikka ehkä se voisikin auttaa kuivia kyynärpäitäni, niin hoh hoh. Suuvesi.... HOH HOH. Ja joku minimaalinen kerta rauta-annos. Voi v*ttu nyt. 

Ei jatkoon, ei todellakaan. Hupaisaa huomata, että sisältö on ihan yhtä kuraa kuin se oli viitisen vuotta sitten. Saanko jo antaa tälle viimeisen sijan?

So...... Got the first of this months beauty boxes delivered today. It's a Finnish one, Bettebox and the contents gave me a lovely reminder why I cancelled the order of its predecessor. If (and when) I want a monthly surprise box, I rather pay more and get quality products. My own personal opinion is, that Bettebox is far from quality. Here's what the box contained:

The little shrivelled tulip fits the picture perfectly.

Yup yup yup..... Yup.. I will give the Lumene products a chance, but I'm always doubtful as to how they work. Anti-aging cream and micellar water, might as well give it a go. The olive cream is interesting just because olives come from Greece :D. The brown thing is supposed to be a mascara. Might as well toss it away.

All this crap, I can buy from my grocery store 300 meters away... And while the damn baby oil may help my poor elbows, I'm going to say no. And the mouthwash…... No. And the teeny tiny one time iron supplement? Oh FFS.

Well, I sure won't be ordering this again. 5 years and the contents are as crappy as they were 5 years ago. Can I already place this at the bottom

Saturday looks

Lauantaina juhlimme muutaman hengen voimin sekä Euroviisukarsintoja että mieheni synttäreitä.

Kummallista, että kerrankin Suomelta valittiin kappale, jota voi kannustaa! Suomen lippu siis pääsee kerrankin kisakatsomoon heilumaan! Sillä oletuksella, että semifinaalit selvitetään. Ruotsin Melodifestivalen tarjoili "Andra Chansen" ihan hyviä valintoja ensi viikon finaaliin, mutta joka tapauksessa olen edelleen team Benjamin Ingrosso!

Viisujen lisäksi pelasimme Cards Against Humanitya. Melkein voitin, eli tulin toiseksi, naiset jyräsivät, koska bestikseni voitti :D Lisäksi iltaan kuului tietenkin viiniä.

Jouduin loihtimaan iltalookin itselleni melko pikavauhtia, joten se oli melko simppeli. Useimmiten ostan vaatteet internetistä ulkomailta, mutta on ollut kiva huomata, että esim. Zalandolla* on nykyään myös plussakoon vaatteita.

On Saturday we watched the Eurovision selections and celebrated my husbands birthday with a couple of friends.

It's strange that for once Finland has a song I can actually support! May the Finnish flag fly in our private viewing party! Well, assuming that we'll get through to the grand finale! Swedens Melodifestivalen's Andra Chansen delivered a few good additions to next weeks final, although I'm already team Benjamin Ingrosso!


As well as watching the Eurovision stuff, we played Cards Against Humanity. I almost won, since I came second :D - Women ruled as it was my bestie who came first. The night also included wine!

I didn't have much time to pretty myself up, so my look was quite simple.

It's hard to take photos of the make up!!! I gotta watcha YouTube tutorial or something.  Anyway, UD gives food face!

LookFantastic Beauty Box, February

Paljon ei ole vielä oikein sanottavaa LookFantasticin boxista. Lähes kaikkea olen nyt kokeillut tuotteista. Elemiksen anti-aging -voide levittyy mukavasti ja pehmentää ihoa mukavasti. Paw Paw'n multivoidetta testasin über-kuiviin kyynärpäihini, vielä ei ole vaikutusta ollut.

There's not much to say about the LookFantastic Beauty Box, at least no yet. I've tried most of the products by now though. The Elemis anti-aging cream spreads nicely, and makes my face nice and soft. Dr. PawPaw's multicream I've tried on my drier than dry elbows, but so far to no avail. 

Bellapierren Shimmer Roll antoi sitä mitä lupasi. Kuva ei tietenkään anna tuotteelle oikeutta, sitä kuitenkin oikein tulvahti putelista kädelle!


Bellapierres Shimmer Roll gave what it promised. The picture obviously doesn't do justice to the shade. The shimmer poured out of the roller! :D

Trifle Cosmeticsin Sugar Pear huultenkuorinta oli makoisa :D mutta ei yhtä tehokas kuin Lushin. Toisaalta tämä sopii hyvin hellään kuorintaan ja Lushin (ainakin oma versioni) taas vähän rajumpaan. Varmaan ihan jees tuote kuitenkin!

The Sugar Pear lip scrub by Trifle Cosmetics was tasty! :D But not as great as the Lush lip scrub. I could imagine using this when I need lighter scrubbing though!

Cohorted Beauty Box, February

No niin, tarkastellaan sitten tarkemmin helmikuun beauty boxeja, maaliskuun laatikoita odotellessa!!!

Cohorted oli "se toiseksi kallein", mutta kaikista kehutuin ja ylellisimpänä pidetty. Itse laatikot avatessa olin sillä kannalla, että LookIncrediblen boxi olisi ollut kuun paras, mutta voi olla, että tarkastelu muutti mieleni. 

Cover FX:n contour-sivellin (itse käyttäisin kyllä meikkivoiteeseen ja peitevoiteeseen) tuntui melko napakalta, ehkä vähän kovemmalta kuin siveltimet joita nykyään käytän.  Tämä kuitenkin vaikuttaa oikein kätevältä matka- ja menosiveltimeltä.

Ciaten Chisel Eye Liner yllätti! Uskomattomalla leveydellään. En malta odottaa, että pääsen oikeasti kokeilemaan tätä, mutta veikkaan että näin paksu liner tulee tuottamaan haasteita. Kun olisikin symmetrinen naama.                                           

                                                        

Ciaten Dewy Stix olikin highlightermaisempi kuin ajattelin. Vaikka itselle sanasta dewy tulee myös tavallaan kimaltava mieleen, ensisijaisesti siitä tulee mieleen kosteus ja aamukaste. Sen kaltainen meikki lienee yksi mikä on tänä vuonna muodissa, joten ajattelin Stixin olevan jotenkin siihen kosteuteen liittyvä asia. 

Allaolevan kuva ei anna oikeutta sille, miltä tuote näyttää luonnossa eikä varmastikaan sille, miltä tuote tulee kasvoilla näyttämään. Kullahtavaa kiiltoa näyttäisi antavan. Oispa jo kesä. 

Voisiko joku vihdoin kertoa mihin näitä käytetään? Essential oils. Ei sais olla suoraa ihokontaktia. En ymmärrä, enkä jaksa googlata.

NYXin Strobe of Genius oli todella positiivinen yllätys! Olen aina ollut vähän skeptinen NYXin tuotteisiin, koska ne voivat olla aika hit or miss. T'm' paletti vaikuttaa sopivan tämänhetkiseen highlighter-aikakauteen aika täydellisesti.
                                                                Tätä voi käyttää melkein missä vaan, koska NYXin pigmentti
                                                                ei kuitenkaan ole aina ihan jämäkin. Allaolevassa kuvassa

Ok, so let's take a closer look at the February Beauty Boxes, while we wait for the postman to bring the March ones. Cohorted was the "second priciest", mutt deemed the best and the most luxurious. When I opened the boxes I thought that the LookIncredible box might've been the best of the month, but upon closer inspection, I might have changed my mind. 

Cover FX contour brush (I would use it on foundation and concealer myself) felt quite sturdy and a bit harder than the the brushes I'm used to using. This seems like a good travel-/going out brush.

I was really surprised by the Ciate Chisel Eye Liner! At least by its enormous brush size. I can't wait to try it out for real, but I bet that a liner this thick will have its complications. If only I had a symmetrical face.                                  

                                                        

The Dewy Stix was way more highlightery than I thought. The word dewy while the morning dew may sparkle, just reminds me of that, the morning dew and the wetness of it. I thought it was said dewiness that is IN this year, so I thought the Dewy Stix were more well,,, dewy. 

The picture below doesn't do justice, for how the product looks like IRL and probably not to how it will look on the face. Golden glittery, summery. I wish it was summer.

Could someone finally explain what "essential oils" are used for? No direct body contact. I don't understand them and can't be arsed to google.

The Strobe of Genius was a really positive surprise! I'm always a little sceptical toward their products. Beacause it can be a hit or a miss. This palette seems to go in well with the current era of highlighters quite perfectly. I could see me            
                                                                using this on a daily basis, because NYX always leaves
